Nominal Range

The nominal range listed in the IALA beacon lists corresponds to the distance at which the signal strength falls to a set threshold over an all seawater propagation path, as defined by the ITU (World Radio Regulations, 2012). 
 
The threshold differs with latitude, with 34dBmV/m used for stations above 43degN and 37.5dBmV/m used for stations between 43degN and 30dN.  Please refer to the ITU reference for the threshold value to be used at other latitudes.
