The collection of Application Specific Messages (ASM) is equiped with a workflow allowing contractors to add ASM's but the (National) Competent Authority is the only one to allow or disallow a new or old ASM.
The workflow of ASM consists of the following states:
For making a ASM a DAC and FI is needed. These can only be given by a competent authority.

- Draft;
- Proposal;
- Testing;
- Accepted (only competent authority);
- In force (only competent authority);
- Deprecated (only competent authority);
- Replaced (only competent authority);
- Discontinued (only competent authority).
